One of the last 120 surviving police boxes in the UK. This one stands outside the town hall on the end of Surrey St.Taken from www.sheffieldhistory.com:
Introduced in Sheffield in 1928 by the then Chief Constable, Percy J Sillitoe, of gang-busting fame, they were eventually phased out in the 1960's. The boxes were used by patrolmen for meal breaks and writing reports.
