Named after the Sheffield Wednesday centre forward of the 1950s whose career was ended when he broke his leg in a match against, I think, Preston and it had to be amputated after gangrene set in. I started watching football at around that time and it is a great regret that I never had the privilege of watching him play.
Good knowledge! He was a complete legend, 61 games for the Owls and 62 goals scored! He's also loved at the other side of the city as he was director at United. I went to school with his grandson Peter!
